Wat Saman Rattanaram: the giant pink reclining Ganesha

Joyful, enormous, and still a place of real wishes. Wat Saman Rattanaram in Khlong Khuean is one of central Thailand’s most photographed sacred sights.

The first time you see it, you laugh a little. Then you go quiet. A huge pink reclining Ganesha, roughly 16 meters tall and over 20 meters long, rests under the Thai sky. Families walk around, light incense, and take photos with umbrellas in every color.

Where it is

Wat Saman Rattanaram, Khlong Khuean area, Chachoengsao Province. Popular as a day trip from Bangkok or Pattaya. From Mama Sue’s near the railway station, plan a dedicated outing by taxi or tour.
